Derek Moore advises clients on antitrust, administrative law, and consumer protection issues. Before joining Lodestar, he served in several roles at the Federal Trade Commission: Attorney Advisor in the Office of Policy Planning; Staff Attorney (on detail) in the Technology Enforcement Division in the FTC’s Bureau of Competition; and Attorney Advisor to Commissioner Joshua D. Wright. He clerked for Judge Douglas H. Ginsburg of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and Judge Claude M. Hilton of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Derek has counseled clients on a variety of antitrust issues, including merger and non-merger investigations by state and federal regulators; and litigation in state and federal court. Derek has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in antitrust disputes, in addition to targets of government investigations as well as third-parties.

Derek’s administrative law experience covers both adjudication and rulemaking, and he has worked on administrative law matters involving the FTC, the FCC, the FERC, and the CFTC.

Derek received his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and a BA in economics from the University of Virginia.
